Art in August will transform Winchester's beautiful town center into a memorable arts promenade.
This year, the 10th for this event, more than 55 artists ranging in age from less than 7 to more than 70 will display their works for the month in the windows of 30 downtown businesses. You may admire hundreds of art works based on practices ranging from those thousands of years old to the latest computer renderings... Painting, drawing, calligraphy, sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, photography, pottery, and fabric arts. The artists range from highly trained professionals to amateurs only recently drawn to art. Each and every one has something wonderful to show.
This Cultural Council site has a list of locations for Art in August displays. And a brochure with an art map listing the artists and their locations as well as a host of enjoyable Art in August events may be found at the participating downtown businesses, which can be identified by the colorful, fluttering yellow, pink and orange Art in August pennants.
Art in August culminates with “Art in the Park” on Saturday, August 23—see the flier (right) for more information.
This event is brought to you by The Downtown Business Association and the Winchester Artists' Network.
Every summer, the Winchester Recreation Department sponsors a series of concerts on the town common. Concerts are on Wednesday nights starting at 7 pm.
